What’s new in NBA 2K22
The most important thing you’ll need to know about NBA 2K22 is that it’s a direct sequel to last year’s NBA 2K19. Despite being a little shorter in length than last year’s title, the core gameplay and features remain exactly the same. Even though the NBA 2K series has been around for a while, it’s still a heavily based on modern basketball and its players. While that may not have changed the basic fundamentals too much, it certainly made them more accessible to newer players. The biggest difference though is the inclusion of the new feature that has been a long time in the works: Live Color. NBA 2K19 also included this new feature, which allows players to view the game in a more colorful way. While it’s not the official NBA app’s primary function, it’s definitely a valuable addition to NBA 2K22.

NBA 2K22 release date: September 10
The 2K22 release date of 2K’s gorgeous baller follows a predictable pattern. NBA 2K18 was released on September 15, 2018, NBA 2K19 was released on September 7, 2018, and NBA 2K20 and NBA 2K21 were released on September 5, 2019, and September 4, 2020, respectively. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions arrived later, in mid-November, however that was due to the systems’ pre-Christmas release date.
This year, synchronicity was restored across all formats and generations, with NBA 2K22 release date set for Friday, September 10, 2021. The game is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC — albeit the latter edition does utilize previous-gen technology, which has sparked some legitimate debate.
The Best and worst parts of 2K22
The competition in the Eastern Conference is certainly stiffer than ever, so it’s no surprise to see a much stronger western team in this year’s conference. Those competitors are the Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are a much more competitive team this year, and they’ve definitely shown that they belong in the elite of all time. Golden State’s Bay Area team, the 49ers, are in their 20s, which means there are fewer wrinkles to the team’s play. The 49ers have been more consistent this year, ranking in top five in the NFL in scoring (23.6 points per game), average defence (plus-23.8), performance-enhancing behaviour (Peb), and turnover (1.8 per game). Meanwhile, the Warriors are still a very exciting team with plenty of heart and talent. In fact, this year’s team is quite possibly the most exciting NBA team to watch.

NBA 2K17: The best impressions
Overall, NBA 2K17 was a solid basketball game. It borrows a lot from NBA 2K19, but I don’t think it’s as overboard as I remember. The story follows a group of friends as they compete in various NBA games. While the core gameplay is similar to last year’s title, the new graphics and animation are much more eye-opening. It’s also worth mentioning that the game supports local co- op for the first time in NBA 2K17. You can play co-op with up to three other people and select from a huge range of different characters to play as.
2K17: The best impressions
This version of NBA 2K17 features the same gameplay as last year’s title, with a few changes that differentiate it from the rest. One of the biggest changes is the addition of local co-op, which means you and up to three other people can play as the same team in one place. The game also features improved player management and an improved scoring system, making this a more consistent play than ever before. Although NBA 2K17 is packed full of familiar faces, it also features a few fresh new faces along with it.
