Clamshell mania – Samsung Galaxy Golden . There’s no stopping the clamshell gravy train as Samsung has announced another version of a retro/new age smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Golden has been revealed for the Asian markets (don’t expect this to hit North American shores anytime soon) and at a pretty large price point: around $700.

Just last week, Samsung was announcing their Hennessy clamshell phone for the Chinese market and some people started scratching their head. While sporting a very nostalgic look to it, it had a high price point and was touted as a smartphone.

However, this hasn’t stopped the South Korean firm as they’ve ramped up their clamshell game with the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Golden. Initially reported as being the Galaxy Folder when we first wrote about the newest clamshell device, the technical specs haven’t changed since then just the reveal of more information.

Availability

As we stated before, this phone will be limited to the Asian market at the moment and most likely for the near future. Right now, they’re going to be asking about $700 US dollars for the Galaxy Golden, putting it right up there in the ranks of their top of the line products and introducing it to some fierce competition amidst some pretty doubtful consumers.
