BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) available for BlackBerry devices. Well not any flipping more! As of September 21st, so just 2 sleeps away for those really excited, you will be able to install the app from the Google Play store, for free! Blackberry will definitely use this to put themselves at an advantage against competitors.

Behind the instant chat app, BBM, you’ll find their own private network which competes head to head against others of the same kind, like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. With the new-found support from Android and iOS alike, BlackBerry will be a market leader over night. Two weeks ago we were able to give you a better idea of what the functions would look like for the messenger and here is a short overview of the features:

With BBM Chat, you will be able to carry on conversations WhatsApp-style: you’ll be informed whether sent messages have been received, read and whether the recipient is writing you back. You’ll also be able to leave voice messages and send files, conduct multi-chat – which allows for conversations with more than one person at a time – and in rushed cases, send the same messages to many contacts simultaneously.

A PIN, which will belong to each user individually, should ensure for security and privacy so that your phone number and email address aren’t in danger.

BlackBerry Messenger for Android should be released a few days before the iOS version.

Do you plan on switching from WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger to BlackBerry? Personally I use both WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, though I find the first to be better, albeit liking the Chat Heads from FB. I plan on trying BBM to see if it toots my whistle.
