Interesting software features behind the Moto X “Active Notifications”: now available for Android 4.1. Previously, we showed you how to get the app “ActiveNotifications” on your device as long as you were running Android 4.3, but this has been updated to now include devices running Android 4.1 as well.
While many countries will not be getting the Moto X right off the bat, this doesn’t mean that you can’t replicate some features for yourself. Keep in mind though, as the Moto X uses an AMOLED screen that allows individual pixels to illuminate, if you have a different display, using this app may drain your battery at a larger rate than intended. Still, it’s a pretty nifty feature to try out for yourself and make your own judgments.
The developer of ActiveNotifications has released an updated version of the app in the Google Play Store and has stated that the build has been tested and should work on devices running Android 4.1 and higher. However, keep in mind there is also a warning saying that it has not been tested extensively across all devices, but has been known to run smoothly on Nexus and Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 phones.
